About BPLC

Message From Our Founding Chairman

Barrister Haq Nawaz Jhandeer

Lawyers hold a distinct set of rights that empower them to represent clients effectively within the legal system. One of their primary rights is the right to practice law, which is obtained after completing formal education and passing the bar exam. Once licensed, lawyers have the authority to represent clients in legal matters, provide legal advice, and appear in court on their behalf. Another critical right is attorney-client privilege, a foundational principle that ensures all communications between lawyers and their clients remain confidential. This protection is essential for fostering trust and open dialogue, enabling lawyers to provide informed legal counsel. Additionally, lawyers have the right to fair compensation for their services and are protected by freedom of speech when advocating for clients, provided they adhere to ethical standards.

Lawyer training is comprehensive and requires a multi-step process. It begins with earning an undergraduate degree, followed by three years of law school. Here, students gain a deep understanding of legal principles and develop practical skills. After law school, they must pass the bar exam in their chosen jurisdiction to become licensed. Ongoing continuing legal education (CLE) is often required to maintain their license and stay updated on legal developments.

  • Right to Practice Law: Lawyers have the right to represent clients in legal matters, offer legal advice, and appear in court once they are licensed.
  • Attorney-Client Privilege: Lawyers are entitled to maintain confidentiality of communications with their clients, fostering honest, open discussions.
  • Right to Fair Compensation: Lawyers have the right to be paid for their services, either through client agreements or court-ordered fees.
  • Undergraduate Degree: Most lawyers begin with a bachelor’s degree, often in fields such as political science, history, or criminal justice.
  • Law School: Lawyers must complete three years of law school to gain knowledge of legal principles, courtroom procedures, and legal writing.
  • Continuing Legal Education (CLE): Many jurisdictions require lawyers to pursue ongoing legal education to stay updated on laws and maintain their license.

“A law is valuable, not because it is a law, but because there is right in it.”

Henry Ward Beecher
